Analyzing a Firm's Wage and Hiring Strategy

A company implements a two-part employment strategy: 1) It pays a wage significantly higher than the market average to motivate its current employees and reduce turnover. 2) It only considers job applicants whose minimum acceptable (reservation) wage is below a specific, much lower threshold. Analyze this strategy by explaining how it leads to the creation of a group of involuntarily unemployed workers. In your response, clearly define this group based on their reservation wage and explain the company's reasoning for not hiring them, even though they are willing to accept the high wage being offered.
