Analyzing Business Decisions in Different Timeframes

A successful startup that produces custom phone cases has been operating out of a small workshop. Demand has grown so large that they are consistently unable to fulfill all orders, and employees are working maximum overtime hours. The management team is considering two proposals:

Proposal A: Immediately hire two more employees for a new night shift and increase orders of raw plastic from their supplier. Proposal B: Sign a lease on a new, larger factory space and purchase three additional high-capacity 3D printers, a process that will take nine months to complete.

Analyze both proposals. Explain which proposal represents a decision within a short-run framework and which represents a decision for the long run. Justify your reasoning by identifying the fixed and variable factors of production in this scenario.
