Analyzing Conflicting Perceptions

After witnessing a heated argument between a customer and a barista, two friends have very different recollections. Alex, who has had several negative experiences with customer service in the past, describes the customer as being aggressive and unreasonable. Ben, who works in the service industry, describes the barista as being rude and unprofessional. Both are convinced their interpretation is the correct one. Analyze the most likely psychological reason for their conflicting perceptions of the same event.
