Short Answer

Analyzing Cost Structures

A firm has a cost structure where each additional unit of output adds the same amount to its total costs. The firm also had to pay a large, one-time fee to begin production. Explain mathematically and conceptually why this firm's average cost per unit will always be greater than its cost to produce one more unit, for any positive quantity of output.
