Analyzing Labor Supply Decisions

An individual receives a substantial, permanent increase in their hourly wage. After the wage change, they are observed to increase the number of hours they work per week. Using the principles of decomposing a price change, analyze the relationship between the income and substitution effects that must exist to produce this outcome. In your answer, explain how each effect, in isolation, influences the choice between leisure and consumption, and then describe how their combined impact leads to the observed increase in work hours.
