Analyzing the Full Societal Cost of a New Development

A large retail corporation builds a new superstore in a suburban area. The corporation pays for land, construction, and employee wages. However, the new store also leads to increased traffic congestion, noise for nearby residents, and a decline in business for smaller local shops. In your own words, explain how an economist would analyze the total cost to society of this new superstore. Be sure to distinguish between the different types of costs involved and explain the relationship between them.
