Analyzing the Shift in British Population Dynamics

For much of the 19th century leading up to 1870, Britain experienced a period of simultaneous growth in both its overall population and the average real income of its citizens. However, beginning around 1870, a new societal pattern emerged regarding family size, even as incomes continued to rise. Analyze this new pattern. Contrast the relationship between income and family size observed before 1870 with the one that emerged after 1870, and explain the significance of this change.
