Annealed Importance Sampling
Annealed Importance Sampling (AIS) is an importance-sampling method for estimating the ratio between two partition functions, and . It draws samples on an extended state space defined by a sequence of intermediate distributions that bridge an initial distribution to the target distribution . AIS is the most common way of estimating the partition function for undirected probabilistic models, such as a trained Restricted Boltzmann Machine.
