This approach focuses on the features of the news, as well as the actual source of the news. There are two ways in which one can adopt the news content approach: the knowledge-based approach and the style-based approach.

News Content Approach to Verifying the Truthfulness of News

This type of approach looks at the actual data that shows how the news is being consumed and shared, as well as the data that shows features of the accounts engaging with the news. This approach also looks at post-level data, which are the reactions (i.e. likes) of accounts engaging with the news. The knowledge-based approach can be applied to post-level data as well.

Data Based Approach to Verifying the Truthfulness of News

There are two main approaches for verifying the veracity of different news stories: the news content approach and the data based approach.
