- Rare disorder characterized by loss of motion vision
- Patients see a series of “freeze-frames” instead of smooth motion
- Can be caused by stroke or a medication side effect
- Can be present without any other visual deficits
- Usually is a temporary condition

Akinetopsia

- Some retinal ganglion cells are most responsive to movement in a specific direction.
- Neurons in V5 receive these signals that are crucial for movement perception.
- These neurons are near the regions that control eye movements.
