Ask for Entry and Protect the Customer’s Home

Before crossing the threshold, the technician should pause and ask for permission to enter and for the location of the work area or panel. Do not assume that an open door means it is acceptable to walk in. If the job will take place inside a finished home, the technician should put on shoe covers or place protective drop cloths before moving through the space. These habits show respect for the customer and reduce the chance of dirty floors, scratches, or other avoidable complaints.
