Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) stigma’s impact on peer interactions in school

While the academic needs of ASD students tend to be met, their social needs remain unresolved. ASD stigmatization has been shown to be disadvantageous on a social scale as well as a contributing factor in routine discrimination of ASD-diagnosed students in scholastic settings. Moreover, it has been suggested typical peers are heavily accountable for the social rejection and feelings of isolation many college students with ASD reportedly face.
