A majority of participants (n=7) recalled feeling that they were losing their true identities and sense of self while in ABA therapy. It also caused issues with self esteem, self loathing, and internalized ableism. 7 participants also felt that ABA directly negatively impacted their mental health. 4 participants stated that it gave them PTSD.
