Barriers to Deaf Healthcare treatment

Nearly 50% of deaf individuals may have poor health literacy. Adults deaf since birth or early childhood may not know their family medical health history because of their inability to overhear their parent's conversations with doctors. This limited access to healthcare information also ties into a lack of access to natural information coming from PSAs, news programs, and general conversation.
