- Also known as perceptual learning
- Use of various exercises and activities in order to work with the plasticity of the brain in order to help with loss of visual perception
- Although visual plasticity is most often associated with children, recent research suggests that the brain has significant plasticity in adulthood, allowing for therapies like these to work even for adults
- Often used to help with simple tasks, such as contrast and shape differentiation
- Not very common, but the field is growing

- Series of activities and exercises done to improve binocular function
- Usually performed by orthoptists, which is a subsection of ophthalmology
- Done to help both developmental visual impairments and visual impairments caused by various brain trauma
- Typically done with children due to the critical period of developing vision
