The way group members interact with each other can influence a group's collective intelligence. An equal level of communication and participation in the group by each member was shown to be a strong predictor of high collective intelligence. In groups in which a small percentage of members dominate both communication and participation were seen to be generally less collectively intelligent. 
There is some research that collective intelligence is not as related to the quality of group relations, like social cohesiveness or psychological safety, as previous research has suggested.
