Students were asked to provide their reason for why they judged homosexuality as wrong or right. 
Students were asked to choose from a list of 18 reasons that closely resembles their attitude. 
There were roughly five categories of beliefs:

1. Biological
2. Individual Rights
3. Informational Assumptions
4. Negative Stereotypes
5. Religious Conventions

To investigate heterosexual adolescents' attitudes towards their lesbian and gay peers, researchers collected data on four distinct measures: 1. Exclusion and teasing judgments, 2. Justifications of the treatment, 3. Evaluative judgments about homosexuality, and 4. Beliefs about homosexuality.

Schooling, Sexuality, and Rights: An Investigation of Heterosexual Students’ Social Cognition Regarding Sexual Orientation and the Rights of Gay and Lesbian Peers in School

Researchers presented participants with hypothetical scenarios and asked them to evaluate from a 5 point Likert scale.
The scenario included instances of exclusion and teasing.
1= completely wrong, 5=- completely all right, 3= neither right or wrong
Participants responded to scenarios regarding either gay male or lesbian targets and this was counterbalanced with participant gender such that half of the female and male participants responded to each version or the Questionnaire. 

Exclusion and Teasing Judgements (Measures) 

For each scenario presented, students were asked to choose from 10 responses, the reasons that best reflected their opinions for why they thought the action (exclusion or teasing) was right or wrong. 

Justifications (Measures) 

Participants were asked to evaluate the students’ attitudes towards homosexuality.
The responses were collected in a similar Likert scale as the exclusion and judgement scenario, meaning in a scale of 1 to 5, 1 was completely wrong and 5 meant completely right.
