Could a theory of mind deficit contribute to a person with borderline personality disorder’s black and white view on their relationships? For instance, when a person they care about tremendously behaves in a way that upsets them, they may suddenly have strong negative feelings towards that person. Maybe this is because they struggle to understand the nuances and deeper reasoning behind the other person’s behavior.
