Bridges

A bridge is a line in a network which provides the only path between two points. While not all weak ties necessarily serve as bridges, only weak ties can serve as bridges because they are the singular line that links an actor from one group to another actor and their group. Bridges are the first step of full integration between two groups which is a condition where all actors between a given number of networks are strongly tied together. The shorter the connection between bridges, the more feasible it becomes for one node in a network to associate with a node in another network.
