Calculating Innovation Rents

Initially, all firms in a market produce a good using a method that costs $50 per unit. A new, more efficient production method becomes available that costs only $40 per unit. If one firm is the first to adopt this new method while all its competitors continue to use the old one, and the market price for the good remains unchanged, what is the value of the innovation rent per unit that the pioneering firm earns? Explain your calculation.
