Carbonyl Group

A carbonyl group is a functional group consisting of a carbon atom double-bonded to an oxygen atom (C=OC=O). It is present in several classes of organic compounds, either as a standalone group or as a component of larger functional groups like ketones, aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and amides.
