Challenging Taboos around Disability and Sexuality
Sexuality and disability have often been difficult topics to discuss. Many people ignore or misunderstand them. The disability rights movement is working to change this. It claims that disabled people have the right to explore and express their sexuality. Organizations like Hand Angels lead the way by providing a space for discussion and services. They help reduce the stigma around sexual expression for people with disabilities. This work challenges society’s tendency to see disabled individuals as asexual or to focus only on their medical needs. By acknowledging that disabled people can fully experience and express sexuality, these efforts promote a better understanding of human rights and personal freedom.
