Characterizing COVID-19 Misinformation Communities Using a Novel Twitter Dataset data collection and annotation
A Twitter API was used to collect data from the weeks following March 29, June 15, and June 24 of 2020. They used certain keywords and hashtags such as "COVID19", "coronavirus", "wuhan", and "vaccine." From this data, tweets were randomly selected for annotation. For annotation, 17 categories were determined for tweets to be classified into. Tweets were then randomly taken from these categories for data analysis in order to have a diverse dataset of tweets about a range of topics. Four thousand five hundred seventy-three tweets were annotated from 3629 users.
