This study highlights how traditional beliefs and stigma can lead to under-recognition of severe symptoms such as suicidal ideation and an over-reliance on informal support networks rather than formal mental health services. The findings underscore the need for culturally sensitive education to address mental health stigma and promote effective use of mental health resources within immigrant communities. There is a severe mental health stigma within the Chinese immigrant community.
