*Chlamydomonas* is a type of green algae notable for its single large chloroplast, two flagella, and stigma (eyespot). 

Similar to land plants, green algae possess chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b as their photosynthetic pigments, cellulose cell walls, and store carbohydrates as starch.
