Unlike the majority of the adult population that struggles with being overweight, a significant minority experiences eating disorders, which frequently lead to individuals being underweight. People with these conditions, such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, typically have an intense fear of weight gain and are at risk for severe adverse health outcomes.
