Comparing Consumer Trade-Offs

Two individuals, Maria and David, spend their entire weekly allowance on two items: digital movie rentals and cups of frozen yogurt. Maria can afford a maximum of 10 movie rentals if she buys no yogurt, or a maximum of 20 cups of yogurt if she buys no movies. David can afford a maximum of 12 movie rentals if he buys no yogurt, or a maximum of 18 cups of yogurt if he buys no movies. Without knowing their total allowances or the individual prices of the items, explain which person faces a higher opportunity cost for consuming one additional movie rental, measured in terms of the frozen yogurt they must give up. Justify your reasoning.
