Concept
Components of an Actionable Recommendation
An actionable recommendation presented to leadership must be structured to enable direct decision-making and clear execution:
- Lead with the recommended decision: State the proposed choice immediately at the outset rather than trailing behind lengthy background explanations.
- Justify with criteria and evidence: Support the recommendation transparently by comparing the viable alternatives against defined evaluation criteria and empirical baseline data.
- Specify ownership and immediate next actions: Clearly identify the decision owner who possesses sign-off authority, the implementation owner who oversees operational execution, and the concrete next steps (such as gathering specific trial metrics or scheduling a formal review before further rollout).
