Price talks about Linh, a professor who hates receiving long emails because she feels the pressure to respond quickly with an equally long email, and this pressure is increased because Linh often, because of her disability, types more slowly than her colleagues do on the same email thread. Linh feels like if she slows down she will fall behind her colleagues. On the other hand, Grace, another professor who has impairments in her hands and cannot us voice recognition because of the clarity of her speech, doesn't feel the same pressure because most of the emails she seends are to students in a class she teaches asynchronously so there is not the same time pressure.

Price offers that whether we conceptualize ourselves as moving "too slow" or "too fast" in relation to a normative assumption of how fast/slow we should be is dependent on the expectations placed on us.
