- Across all experiments, the people who were in the “culturally fluent” groups were more likely to use “gut-based reasoning” rather than systematic, rule-based reasoning than the people in the “culturally disfluent groups” and in turn were more likely to give the wrong answer
- Therefore, people may be more vulnerable to misinformation when messages are presented through culturally fluent terms (i.e. using more of the images, sounds, phrases, and content that people tend to expect)
