Conditioning Therapy for Bedwetting

A practical example of conditioning therapy is its use to treat nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting). The method involves having the individual sleep on a liquid-sensitive pad connected to an alarm. When the pad detects moisture, the alarm sounds, waking the person. After this process is repeated multiple times, the individual forms an association between the sensation of urinary relaxation and the act of waking up, which effectively stops the bedwetting.
