One of the babies in the NICU developed an inflammation of the gallbladder and edema of its thigh. The baby was released six days after birth. 
One of the other babies in the NICU suffered from transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) and was placed on nasal- Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (nCPAP). The baby’s breathing became normal in three days and was discharged seven days after birth.

All infants (three male, one female) had a normal APGAR score at birth. They were immediately separated from their mothers and were fed formula. Three of the four babies tested negative for COVID-19, while one baby was not tested due to the lack of parental consent. Two out of the four babies did not have to be placed in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).

Infants Born to Mothers With a New Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The infants did not show severe clinical symptoms (cough, diarrhea, or fever) and all were alive by the time they were discharged from the hospital. Two of the infants did show unknown rashes and one had ulcerations on its face. One infant had tachypnea and had to be put on medical ventilation.
