An effective alternative is to administer conjugate vaccines to vulnerable populations. Conjugate vaccines stimulate the production of polysaccharide specific B cells that make antibodies. The outer capsule (composed of polysaccharides) is coupled to a carrier protein which provides peptides that generate a CD4 T-cell response.
