Consequences of the Labor Tax Wedge

A government introduces a new tax on labor. This tax creates a difference between the total cost an employer pays for a worker and the actual take-home pay the worker receives. Analyze how this newly created difference, or 'wedge,' is likely to influence the hiring decisions of employers and the work-related decisions of employees. In your response, consider the perspectives of both parties.
