Consolidation of Memories
The consolidation of memories is known as the process through which short term memories and information becomes long term. The process of consolidation heavily depends on time and on repetition, which has been seen through experiments with humans and other species (such as rats). Research suggests that there are three major types of memory consolidation:
- Cellular consolidation
- Systems consolidation
- Reconsolidation
