Out of a total of 2473 confirmed COVID-19 patients investigated in this study, only 58 (2.3%) had COPD. Seven studies with 35 COPD patients noted that 63% of the patients with COPD experienced severe symptoms of COVID-19. This shows that patients with COPD as a comborbidity are more prone to experience severe symptoms of COVID-19. Additionally, data from two studies including COPD patients with COVID-19 show a 60% mortality rate compared to the 55% mortality rate of patients that did not have COPD.
