Clinical research has demonstrated that tocilizumab, an anti IL-6 receptor drug, is effective in reducing inflammation, alleviating symptoms of COVID-19 and improving oxygen intake. Because high fiber diets are associated with lower serum levels of the strong inflammatory cytokines that are released during the pathogenesis of SARS-CoV-2, the combination of the immunosuppressive drugs with a high fiber diet may have very anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties effective in treating patients with COVID-19.
