COVID-19 publications: Database coverage, citations, readers, tweets, news, Facebook walls, Reddit posts methodology - document and Altmetric comparison data sets

  • Checked Dimensions.ai every day to match newly published COVID-19 publications
  • Downloaded documents that corresponded to a set of COVID-19 queries from Dimensions.ai and altmetrics
  • Collected a total of 21,395 publications, mostly open access, including many preprints
  • Used Mendeley API to determine how many Mendeley readers there are for each of the publications using Webometric Analyst
  • Used Webometric Analyst to quantify the number of citations in Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and other online news sources
  • Created a new dataset of 106 journal articles from Dimensions.ai were collected on March 24 for further studies of correlation
