Crip-of-Color Critique and Racism
Kim and Schalk point out how ableist ways of valuing people around dependency, laziness, and work ethic have been leveraged against Black Americans and serve as the same values we see coming up in anti-Black rhetoric around individuals on welfare, low-income Black communities, and around modern conservative rhetoric around affirmative action. Kim and Schalk point out that there are counters to this valuing - for instance Tricia Hersey's work around rest as a form of resistance to White Supremacy.
