Critique of the Biological Basis for Archetypes

A significant critique of Jung's theory is the lack of empirical evidence for a biological basis for archetypes. Modern genetics has found that symbolic information is not encoded on the human genome, and developmental research indicates that infants are not born with the ability to decode symbolism, which refutes the idea that archetypes are purely innate.
