Critiquing an Economic Claim

An economic advisor makes the following claim: "Any individual can achieve their desired level of daily consumption, regardless of how high it is, simply by choosing to work more hours."

Critique this statement. In your answer, you must:

  1. Explain the fundamental constraint that limits an individual's choices between work and free time.
  2. Provide a specific numerical example of an individual with a fixed hourly wage who has a consumption goal that is impossible to achieve, no matter how many hours they work.
  3. Explain mathematically why the goal in your example is unattainable.
