When starting any CSS code, the code has to start with a selector. The selector identifies the type/types of elements that will be affected by the rule. After would follow curly braces with a property and value inside of it.

Markup language HTML is always tied in with CSS. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) refers to the different layouts a website has to offer, this includes, color, font, and spacing. It adds style to websites and makes it unique from other websites.

Color will set the color of the type for an element. In the example, the selector is a paragraph, but it can be applied to any selector or compound selector and will apply to text within that targeted element or elements. Color can be set by using one of the 128 color keywords. Or you can set the hex code. You can also use rgb or rgba. The last property in rgba will set transparency or the alpha channel.

CSS Rules 

Cascade refers to when one element is affected my multiple rules.  The elements get rendered as a combination of all the rules that apply to them. For example, the paragraph can inherit the color and font choices from the body rule, and that gets added to the line-height in the paragraph rule to end up with a final rendering.
