Curing and Applying Finished Compost
After compost completes decomposition, it should be allowed to cure for several weeks before being used. Finished compost can then be applied by blending it into garden beds or spreading it as a thin mulch layer around plants, where it improves soil structure, aids water retention, and gradually supplies nutrients.
