Definition of Stock (Systems)

In systems dynamics, a stock is a quantity measured at a specific point in time. It represents an accumulation or level of something, such as a firm's capital goods or the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. A key characteristic of a stock is that its units of measurement do not depend on time.
