Development and Course of Cyclothymic Disorder

The cyclothymic disorder usually begins in adolescence or early adult life and is sometimes considered to reflect a moody tendency to other disorders.

There is a 15%– 50% risk that an individual with cyclothymic disorder will subsequently develop bipolar I disorder or bipolar II disorder; Youth have higher diagnostic conversion rates than adults.
