Differences Between Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), Psychopathy, and Sociopathy

The differences between psychopathy, sociopathy, and ASPD are often not well defined and people frequently confuse them with one another or use them interchangeably. Psychopathy and sociopathy are considered to be two extreme forms of ASPD and share several overlapping characteristics with one another. Yet their differences suggest they are separate disorders.. An individual with ASPD does not always fit the characteristics of a sociopath or psychopath. It is more common for individuals to have sociopathy in addition to ASPD. Its estimated that 30% of those with ASPD are sociopaths compared to the 3-15% of those with ASPD that are psychopaths.
