When a particular aspect or topic arises during the group session, the therapist is expected to extend or expand the discussion if doing so is beneficial for the group and its members.

The therapist empowers and supports group members, creating a safe space for open expression and personal growth. The therapist guides the group, sets goals, and directs the therapeutic process to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives.

Knowledgeable Role of Therapist in Group Therapy

The Therapist analyzes and interprets the group members' verbal and nonverbal expressions, interactions, and dynamics. Based on their observations, the therapist offers explanations and understanding to the group, helping the members gain insights into their own thoughts and feelings and how they relate to the group's dynamics. However, premature interpretation must be avoided.
