Discussion for Literacy Loss in Kindergarten Children During COVID-19 School Closures
Read-alouds are beneficial for children because they provide a higher sentence complexity than regular conversations or oral storytelling. This higher sentence complexity is referred to as ‘book language’. Additionally, read-alouds offer the opportunity for the child to practice sounding out words and interact with the letters and text, even when rereading the same book.
