-The Child-ASI proves useful for looking into a child’s relationship to both parents and into the type of attachment style that is present if it is used properly.

-The child to mother relationship was found to play a very important role in this study. But, there were also strong associations with a separation from the father and that relationship.

-Anxious attachment styles were key in the association with depression and risk.

-The most prevalent attachment style found in the school sample was secure (62%), second most prevalent was avoidant (24%), then it was angry-dismissive style (19%), and then anxious styles covered 12%. The least common was disorganized style.

-The in-care sample had significantly more insecure style rates.

-As for depression, the highest rates were found among children with anxious attachment styles. There was also a significant rate of depression found among those with avoidant style as well.

-There was no significant relationship found between the development of secure versus insecure attachment style as a result of life events.
