When the grades of the students were reviewed and analyzed after the study was conducted, it revealed that there was a difference in performance between domestic and international students. The collaborative, blended learning approach was not only the better approach in improving the performance of both groups of students but raised the grades of the Chinese students so that the achievement gap was diminished between them and the domestic students.

There is one article that looks at addressing the difference in academic performance between domestic and international students and ways to mitigate the gap. Given that international students face the problem of trying to adjust to a new location with a different language and culture, their academic performance compared to domestic students is likely to suffer. This study proposes that a collaborative, blended learning approach may diminish this performance gap between domestic and international students.

Narrowing the Attainment Gap Between Domestic and International Students: Use of a Simulation and Experiential Learning in Mixed-Cohort Strategic Management Teaching

The study involved domestic and international (Chinese) students in a business management course in a UK university. In one semester, the class was structured in a typical manner involving lectures, seminars, and tests. The second semester was based on a collaborative, blended approach for students, as students would not only receive lectures but group work based on a simulation of managing a virtual company. The grades received in the classes would be the variable that compares the two approaches in seeing which one mitigated the performance gap between domestic and international students better.
